Perry Evans, CEO of Local Matters, Named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 26, 2006–Perry Evans, CEO of Local Matters, a provider of software and media services that enable Yellow Pages publishers and 411 service providers to expand their traditional service offerings, was honored by Ernst & Young with the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Software category.Ernst & Young, a global leader in professional services, recognized Evans for his enduring entrepreneurial spirit in creating businesses and his role in the development of Denver-based Local Matters. Evans was selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of local business, academic and community leaders. The award was announced at a black tie awards gala on June 22, 2006 at the Denver Performing Arts Center.
“Accepting this award is an honor because it is a reflection of the dedication and team effort of the employees at Local Matters,” said Mr. Evans.
Currently, Evans is Local Matters Chief Executive Officer where he joined from his role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Webb Interactive, a software development company. Evans also founded Jabber, Inc., an advanced XML-based messaging company co-owned by France Telecom and Intel Capital, and served as the Chairman of its board of directors. Prior to Jabber, Evans founded the MapQuest Publishing Group and served as its President. He also founded netIgnite, Inc., a company engaged in XML-based website services in 1998.
Evans will be eligible for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 18, 2006.
